Dental Implants Expertise

If you’ve been exploring your options for replacing missing teeth, you’ve likely come across dental implants as a popular and highly recommended solution. But did you know there are several types of implants available, each designed for different needs and situations?

At Banning Dental Group, we go beyond the standard approach. With over 17,000 dental implants placed and a team of 20+ experienced implantologists across our clinics, we’re proud to offer one of the UK’s most advanced and comprehensive dental implant services. Whether your case is straightforward or a little more complex, we have the skill, tools and solutions to help you smile with confidence again.

Let’s take a closer look at the different implant options available and how our expertise ensures you’re always in the best hands.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Dental implants are widely regarded as the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. They look, feel, and function just like natural teeth and with proper care, they can last for decades.

An implant is made up of a small metal post that acts as an artificial root, that’s gently placed into the jawbone. Once healed, a crown, bridge or denture is attached, restoring your smile’s appearance and function.

Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants help preserve the bone in your jaw and support the natural shape of your face. And because they’re anchored securely, there’s no slipping, clicking or discomfort, just a seamless, secure smile.

Dental Implants Are Not A One-Size-Fits-All Solution

At Banning Dental Group, we understand that no two smiles are the same. That’s why we offer a full range of specialist implant solutions tailored to your unique dental and medical needs. Here’s a breakdown of the different types we provide:

Standard Titanium Dental Implants

Ideal for most patients with good general and oral health.

For patients in good oral and general health, titanium implants offer a time-tested, highly durable solution that look and feel just like natural teeth. With excellent success rates and biocompatibility, this is the most common option and one we deliver with precision, affordability and unmatched results.

Our implantologists carefully plan and place each implant using state-of-the-art digital imaging to ensure the perfect fit. This option is excellent for replacing one or several missing teeth and offers a permanent, natural-looking result.

When they’re used

Ideal for most patients with good general and oral health and enough healthy jawbone to support an implant. If there isn’t enough healthy bone in the jaw to support dental implants, bone grafting or sinus lifting may be advised.

Typical cases

  • Single missing tooth replacement
  • Implant supported bridge
  • Implant supported dentures in patients with adequate bone
  • All on 4/6 full arch replacement

Supporting Dental Implants: Building the Foundation for Long-Term Success

Sometimes, before implants can be placed, the area needs to be prepared to ensure a strong, secure foundation. These treatments are completely routine and carried out with your comfort and long-term results in mind.

Bone Augmentation and Sinus Lifts

If you’ve been missing teeth for a while, it’s natural for the jawbone in that area to shrink over time. This can mean there’s not quite enough bone to support an implant securely. But don’t worry, there are excellent solutions available.

Bone augmentation is a procedure that encourages your body to regenerate bone in the needed area. We use a specialist grafting material that’s placed where required, allowing new, strong bone to grow over time.

For implants in the upper back jaw, we may also recommend a sinus lift. This involves gently lifting the sinus membrane to create space for new bone. Again, this is a common, well-tolerated treatment that helps pave the way for successful implants, even in cases where bone loss has occurred.

However, we have several alternative dental implant options which are designed to avoid the need for bone augmentation or sinus lifts. It´s these specialist options that demonstrate our implant expertise and allow us to provide solutions for all manner of cases.

Zygomatic Implants

For patients with upper jaw bone loss where standard implants aren’t suitable.

Over time, some patients lose bone in the upper jaw, particularly after tooth loss or denture use. In these cases, traditional implants may not have enough bone to anchor into but that doesn’t mean implants are off the table.

Zygomatic implants are a specialist alternative that are longer and positioned at a different angle, anchoring into the cheekbone (zygoma), which provides strong, stable support. This technique avoids the need for bone grafting and is ideal for patients seeking a quicker, more advanced route to fixed teeth.

At Banning, our team has placed many successful zygomatic implants so if you’ve been told implants aren’t possible, we invite you to come and talk to us.

When they’re used

For patients with severe upper jaw bone loss where standard implants aren’t possible without a bone graft.

Typical cases

  • Full upper jaw rehabilitation without the need for complex bone grafting
  • Patients who have worn dentures for years
  • Patients who have had previous implant failures.

Pterygoid Implants

For patients missing upper back teeth or with reduced bone in that area.

The back of the upper jaw can be a tricky area for implants due to softer bone. Pterygoid implants are a brilliant solution, placed at an angle into a more stable part of the bone, allowing us to restore function in this often-overlooked area.

This advanced technique removes the need for bone grafting and ensures a secure, lasting result. It’s especially useful in full-mouth or upper-arch restorations. It’s a sophisticated solution, but one our specialists place regularly with confidence and consistency.

When they’re used

For patients missing upper molars or with poor bone at the back of the upper jaw, where traditional implants wouldn’t hold securely.

Typical cases

  • Full-arch implant bridges where molar support is needed but bone is limited avoiding sinus lifts or grafts.

Trabecular Implants

For patients with reduced bone quality or slower healing capacity.

Certain patients especially older adults or those with medical conditions, may have less dense jawbone or slower healing responses. In these cases, Trabecular implants offer a more advanced option.

Designed with a porous midsection that mimics the natural structure of bone, these implants promote faster integration and a stronger bond between the implant and the jaw. The result? Greater stability and confidence, even in challenging conditions. Ideal for medically compromised cases, they showcase the advanced care only an implant-focused clinic like Banning can offer.

When they’re used

In cases where bone quality is poor or healing potential is reduced and a stronger connection between implant and bone is needed.

Typical cases

  • Patients with compromised bone, low bone density or underlying health conditions where traditional implants may be less successful.

Advanced Dental Scans for Safer Planning

Precision is everything when it comes to implant dentistry. At Banning, we include advanced dental imaging as part of your consultation, completely free of charge.

CBCT (Cone Beam CT) Scan

This 3D scan provides a highly detailed view of your teeth, bone, nerves, and sinus anatomy, allowing us to plan your treatment with pinpoint accuracy.

OPG (Orthopantomogram)

A panoramic X-ray that gives a full view of your jaw and teeth. This helps assess your overall dental health and identify any other issues that may need attention before placing implants.

These tools allow us to create a truly personalised treatment plan tailored to your needs, priorities and lifestyle.
